Our first visit and it was awesome. Outstanding food and service. Squash soup, roasted cauliflower rib eye and trout. Then we had the vanilla dessert. Thank You!

Tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood in Appleton, Wisconsin is a restaurant that redefines expectations: ellinor From the moment I arrived, I sensed something special. One of the servers greeted me at the door and, despite being 30 minutes early for my reservation, promptly seated me at the bar overlooking the open kitchen. For someone who appreciates not just food, but the craft of hospitality, this was an ideal vantage point. I had a full view of the chefs at work, the servers’ command center, and a front-row seat to the rhythms of a kitchen that clearly functions as both a creative and safe space. Behind me the dining room that maybe seats 20 people was filled with engaged patrons whose conversation buzzed. The wine list was my first surprise—exceptionally curated, yet accessibly priced. In most places, I would expect a 3x markup. Not here. The selection invited exploration, with thoughtful offerings for every palate. This list alone deserves recognition. The menu is small by design—refined and focused—but my server, Sarah, delivered a high-level overview that unlocked the menu’s depth. Her recommendations helped me navigate the choices with ease and confidence. I began with the roasted hen of the woods mushrooms, served with a matsutake soy. Perfectly seasoned and earthy, the dish was a masterclass in restraint and balance. For my entrée, I chose the black cod with red curry foam, sesame broccolini, Napa cabbage and English cucumber salad, all atop a delicate miso extraction. Living on the New England ocean, I rarely order seafood away from home—but I’m grateful I made an exception. The cod was flaky, tender, and sweet (as if it had been caught that morning). The broccolini, dressed with a sesame glaze, was cooked to perfection, its texture just beyond al dente. The cabbage and cucumber brought elegance and structure, elevating the dish without overshadowing it. ellinor is not just a restaurant—it’s an experience. One shaped by intention, precision, and the quiet joy of people who love what they do. If I lived in Appleton, I’d be here weekly. For now, I’ll be counting the days until next year’s convention brings me back.

Absolutely LOVED the time we had at Ellinor. The service was very professional - our waiter asked all the right questions, was polite with his attentiveness and provided fantastic recommendations. The atmosphere is the cutest thing - cozy like you’re in Boston - capturing the warmth of the placement in the city and restaurant. The food did not skip a beat - everything was outstanding. We got two pizzas and two apps for three people and this was more than filling! The cauliflower and mushrooms were DELICIOUS! The pies - spectacular. We had the mushroom pie , so buttery and filling and tasty. The calabrese was our favorite - so bright with flavor, this can’t be missed! Appleton is so so blessed to have Ellinor in its presence, take good care of it cause what they have is so so special!! Ps - the popcorn was truly out of this world. Chef is invited over for movie night or game day anytime !

Very nice pizza. Prosciutto and peaches were a nice combo. The chipotle pineapple popcorn was a great starter. Will come back.

Finally booked a reservation to have dinner in the dining room after thinking about it for a while. Well worth it. Excellent food - popcorn and wings were a yummy treat. The cous cous was a mix of flavors I thoroughly enjoyed, and the pizza dough was clearly prepared with love. But the prime ribeye was the star of the night. Incredibly tender with a lovely sear, it cut like butter. Made for a wonderful night out. Would come back for the ribeye alone!

If I could give a bigger rating I would. Hands down the best food i have ever consumed. I've been wanting to come here forever and finally made it and was the best decision ever. The place was amazing and the atmosphere was amazing and staff was amazing. I had the bone marrow and striped bass and butterscotch pot de creme my husband had the roasted cauliflower the ribeye and the affogato. We shared of coarse and it was all so beautiful and tasted wonderful. Seriously my new favorite place. If you haven't tried this gem do it now you will thank me later.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Ellinor. Great atmosphere, service and the food was so delicious. If we were not from out of town we would be regulars. We had the duck and trout. We donor get a picture of the oyster, popcorn or desserts but every bite was so good.
